Ottobre 04/2004-2 & 03/2004-8

With my last shreds of soil separator paper I managed to eke out a tee shirt pattern for Myra.  She really needs some long sleeved tees, and I wanted some leggings as well, for layering under summer dresses that she hasn't yet outgrown (but will by the time it is warm enough to wear them again!).

Here is her first tee.  I didn't want anything fancy, since she'll be wearing it under things, but I liked the little keyhole at the neckline.

And a pair of basic leggings.

I did the waistband slightly differently than the Ottobre directions and it looks exactly like her RTW leggings.  Basically I attached the elastic in the round to the wrong side of the pant top with a wide triple zigzag and my overcast foot so it finished the edge and sewed it in one step, then folded over the edge and topstitched it down with a twin needle.

For both pieces I used a "ponteroma" double knit from Hancock.  It is super soft and cozy.  I think it will be perfect as a warm winter layer.

"Why are you taking a picture of my in my long johns, Mommy?"  Yeah, not too stylish all by themselves!

But just right with a little dress over the top.

Adorable! My youngest is needing some more basics too for layering and such. You did a great job on the keyhole neckline...was it hard?

The keyhole neckline actually wasn't all that difficult. The directions for this pattern from Ottobre are excellent and very detailed.

You could make a dozen or so of those nice little outfits. If your little one is anything like my grandkids, she goes through at least a couple of outfits a day. Those are so nice and warm for playing on the floor.

That is what I use for Hayley (leggings, longsleeve tops, summer dresses that are too short for dresses). But, I have many clothes leftover from CeeCee, who's 8, so I don't make her a whole bunch. That's the look I use for her, though.

They are so cute with the little dress over the top! What a great way to get a little more use out of the cute summer dresses that don't fit for very long.

Adorable! I just love the look of little summer dresses over the long tees and leggings. Wish my "little" girl was still little enough to wear this stuff. *sigh*

Thanks! Carrie - I got these issues on Ebay, but you can order back issues from http://www.woolythread.com/ or from the Ottobre website - http://www.ottobredesign.com/.

That looks so cute under the little dress! I have a couple of issues of Ottbre, but have yet to make anything from them!
