It's Jungle January, of course!! I've been scheming all winter, with visions of leopard and zebra in my head. This year, I thought we'd start off with something a little different.
I had a little help from the ultimate fashionista, Barbie.
Barbie's lovely ensemble is from McCalls 6232 . It is a complete Barbie wardrobe pattern, and today we're lounging in a fitted, turtleneck sleeveless sheath and a chic coat with a fitted bodice, full skirt and contrast cuffs and collar.
Barbie struts her stuff in this full length leopard gown, made from leftover velveteen. Her gown features a high turtleneck and a knee length slit. It has a center back closure of velcro, for ease of dressing.
For those nippy evenings waving to her adoring fans, she dons a lovely coat of hot pink interlock. It is trimmed with velveteen to match her gown and closes with a single snap. (Aside: I totally want a grown up version of this coat.)
Barbie is so thrilled you came over to visit the Dream House and to admire the latest fashions with her. She hopes your jungle sewing is going well!

Dear Barbie, hand over the ensemble and no one gets hurt. So Katie do we all make grown up versions of this coat now? We can be a posh gang.
Too cute!
hahaha. I love it. Barbie is so stylin' - I hope this means your pants are almost done? Dying to see them!
Definitely an adoring fan here :-) Great post and gorgeous clothes. Lucky, lucky Barbie!
She is definitely a fashionista! Great job with these two lovely garments!
Now I want to take my turquoise chashmere coating and add leopard shawl collar and cuffs I'll add lambswool for interlining and I'll be fabulously warm for the next polar vortex!
Lord, we are all just style amateurs next to this blonde!
Barbie looks glam. How sweet would it be to make a pink spearmint coat with a Leopard collar?
I am amazed at you patience and all those tiny stitches - I hope Barbie appreciates you !
You are a riot! That's so great! And I totally wanted Barbie's dream house when I was a kid.
OMG. I have so been wanting to sew some Barbie clothes. I think you have pushed me over the edge.
Ha,ha,ha! I'm also sewing my Barbie some new attire worthy of Jungle January!
this is sooooooo cute!
Oh my goodness, I want a grown up version of that coat too! It is so fabulous.
Thank you!
Sad, but true... Now I just want to know who her interior decorator is! And where can I get that chaise!!
Wouldn't the Spearmint do this look a treat!? I'm seriously considering it.
Short seams mean fast sewing! Barbie only wear couture, after all. ;)
Me too!! Myra's a lucky little girl.
It's really fun! And fast. Super instant gratification.
Your Instagram Barbie sewing totally inspired me. I can't wait to see her Jungle wardrobe!
Barbie gets all the good stuff... ;)
My grandmother made Barbie clothes for me. I now feel that anyone who makes them is a saint. Enjoy your sainthood!!!!!
I loved seeing your Barbie sewing on IG - so reminded me of my childhood where buying new Barbe clothes was too expensive so I made them stuff with left-overs. They now make patterns for Barbie!
