Look! I sewed for a grown up human!!
After my last post, I decided that enough was enough, and I just needed a quick pick me up project to rev up my mojo.
Of course, I made a Trifecta Top. I sewed it in this fun Tokidoki style jersey from Nature's Fabrics. They actually still had a few yards left as of this post. You can find it here.
From the back, you can see the cool print a little better. There are Asian looking pinup style faces, interspersed with cartoon-y skulls with an overall camouflage appearance. The base fabric is a heathered grey, and the print is several shapes of pink, ranging from a deep burgundy to to a pale cotton candy shade.
I decided to do the sleeves, sleeve bands and neckband in black rayon lycra jersey from FabricMart. It is so soft and I love the way it makes the pink pop.
For this version of the Trifecta Top, I decided to cut the cap length sleeve and use my shaped hemline. I think one of the mojo blockers I'm trying to get around is the change in seasons. The weather has been ridiculously unpredicatable - swinging from the 20s in the morning to the 60s by afternoon. Sewing for Winter seems silly, but I'm not sure I'm ready to start sewing for Spring.
I think this is a good start though. A simple but fun tee, perfect for my actual life.
Now, what to do next? Jeans are nice and trans-seasonal, and I always seem to need more of those. Of course, there is this houndstooth ponte knit that wants to become a moto jacket... We'll see what speaks louder to me.

Kitschy Coo Trifecta Top: Mermaid style
So, here is my 4th, and final (for the moment - there will be more) Kitschy Coo Trifecta Top. I saved this one for last for a couple of reasons.
The first reason is that it is my favorite. But also, this is the one I made the most modifications to. I wanted you to see the Trifecta Top as it is, before I started messing about with it.
For starters, this is a V neck tee in my typical Kitschy Coo size. The white fabric is a very stretchy mesh-like double knit and the pink print is a cotton jersey from the Kitschy Coo shop, sadly now sold out. It has about 20% stretch.
I only had 1/2 metre of the Mermaids, so the sleeves are an unorthodox length that was the longest I could scrape out of my short piece of fabric. I also added a teeny pocket, but this was before Amanda had added the pocket to the pattern, so the placement and size of the pocket on the pattern is different than this one.
The major change I made was to create a curved "baseball tee" type hemline. To do this I extended the length of the tee 5 inches at center back and 3 inches at center front, then curved up the hemline to the original length at the side seams.
I'm really pleased overall with my sporty, fun top. And so was Myra! When I finished it, she demanded her own. She's lucky I had just enough of the Mermaids left to make a raglan for her.
Matchy Mermaids!
And well, that's it! I hope you've enjoyed seeing all the ways I've made the Trifecta Top my own. If you haven't ordered it already, you still have one more day to take advantage of the TRIFECTA coupon code to save 20% off and 2 Kitschy Coo patterns.

Kitschy Coo Raglan: Slouchy and Chic
In a more stable knit, my ocelot ponte knit Trifecta Top has a very fitted look, but I wanted to see what a much more unstable knit would do in the same pattern.
So without making any fit changes, I made this one up in a slinky knit with about 150% stretch.
This version has the hem band, so it is a bit longer, and I omitted the shoulder patches. The weight of the slinky also pulls it down a little, giving it even more length.
As you can see, this is a completely different top, just with the change of fabric. In a stable ponte, the top is fitted and "dressed up" looking, but switching to a more unstable, stretchy knit, the result is a comfy, casual but still great looking top.
I love how versatile the Trifecta Top pattern is! Want a casually chic top for hanging around? Check. Want a sleek, fitted top to impress? Check. PJs? Check.
Did you get your Trifecta Top yet? Don't forget the discount code!! TRIFECTA will get you 20% off any two Kitschy Coo patterns in the shop! It's only good until Sunday. Hurry!

Kitschy Coo Trifecta Top: Give me the RAWR shoulder!
Lest you think this Trifecta Top is solely for sleepytime, let me assure you otherwise! While still as comfortable as PJs, this pattern still ticks all the boxes for trendy and stylish.
It seems like every time I'm on Pinterest, I'm seeing another cute tee with shoulder patches - lace, sheer, neon - you name it, somebody is putting it on their shoulders.
The Trifecta Tee has this feature built right in! No alterations needed, Amanda has done the work for you, thankyouverymuch. I decided to make this version of the Trifecta Top out of ponte knit with the feature being the ocelot print shoulder patches.
Since my ponte knit is not very stretchy, I went up a size from my usual Kitschy Coo size 3 and sewed this one in a straight size 4 - no other alterations. And I'm very pleased with the fit.
With the shoulder patches, you get the look of a set in sleeve in front, but the shoulder shape of the raglan in back, which I find a very flattering combo.
Since I wanted a less casual look for this top, I decided to hem it, rather than use the band on the lower edge. As you can see, the finished length for the hemmed version is a bit shorter, just grazing the hip, which I think is just right for an unbanded top.
You may have also noticed that this version features the rounded scoop neck. This is the same neckline that graces the Lady Skater and Penny Pinafore, so if you've sewn either of those you know what a flattering shape it is. I hope I've convinced you already to go get your own Trifecta Top! If not, I still have a few more tricks up my sleeve. And hey, a sale!! Use the code TRIFECTA for 20% off any 2 Kitschy Coo patterns!! Hurry over to the shop! The code only lasts until Sunday.

Kitschy Coo Trifecta Top!!
The day you have been waiting for is finally here!! Kitschy Coo has released the Trifecta Top!!
I was so thrilled to be a pattern tester for this top, I made 4 during the testing period. But then I had a dilemma. Which one to show you first?? I love them all! After some peaceful contemplation, I decided to share the one I wear the most.
Because it is the top half of the most comfortable set of pajamas I have ever owned.
The Trifecta Top was so named because you get a trifecta of options for both neckline and sleeve as well as three "extras" - tiny pocket, neckline inset and shoulder patches. For my PJ top, I chose a warm and cozy long, cuffed sleeve paired with a ladylike V neck.
Can I wax poetic about this V neck for a moment? Seriously, how gorgeous is that?? The band is perfectly mitered. It's just the right length for a snug fit with no flopping around. And it isn't even tricky to sew.
The pattern includes an option for a band or plain hem at the bottom edge. There are separate cut lines so you get the perfect length either way. I chose the band for my PJs. No riding up while I sleep! And the red contrast is fun.
Here is a better view of the V neck. You can also see that the sleeves are comfortably long, and finish with a snug cuff.
In back, the fit is sleek but not tight. The raglan seams are so, so flattering! I really love the shape they have and how they sculpt the back.
This really is the perfect, comfortable top for lounging, relaxing or just chilling out.
Well, don't be caught napping! Hurry and grab your Trifecta Top pattern! And stay tuned for the other 3 versions. This pattern really has it all! And you can get it for 20% right now! Head over to the Kitschy Coo shop for 20% off any two patterns. Use the code TRIFECTA at checkout.
