On Saturday, my sweet hubby took the kids for the day so that I could sew. I have a ton of stuff I need to sew for the family, but a free sewing day means selfish sewing to me!
This pattern is my fourth version of Vogue 8330. I think it's time to put this one away, even though I do love it. My sewing ADHD demands a new pattern...
But these jeans are not about the pattern. These are all about this fan-freakin-tabulous fabric.
I know, right?!? This is a printed stretch denim from Mood. As of this post, they still have some. You can get it here. You know you want it...
Since I usually sew my jeans piecemeal - an hour here, 30 minutes there - I actually have no idea how long it takes me to crank out a pair. These were made in one sitting, start to finish and took 6 hours. Now, the topstitching is minimal, and in a matching color, so I didn't have to change thread or switch machines, and the pattern was already fit, so it was just cut and go. More complex jeans or a new pattern would require more time.
I'm wearing my new jeans with my Vogue 8747 blouse and vintage Vogue 2657 vest. Styling these jeans is a little bit challenging, as they are pretty striking by themselves. I think the great white shirt and basic vest work well, but I can also see them paired with a floaty chiffon blouse in a jewel tone or a chambray shirt.

I love these pants!! That fabric is beyond fabulous- as is a person who owns those Maryjanes!!!
LOVE THIS SO MUCH! I'm planning on making the infamous Jalie Jeans into my TNT soon. I have several fabrics picked out, too.
They are crazy but amazing! Such a brilliant fabric and you styled them so well! x
Your jeans are incredible. Beautiful fabric and beautifully constructed.
Awesome pants. Perfect use of that fabric, and I love the blouse/vest with them.
haha - loving you out in the snow in those shoes! the jeans look great. i really must conquer my trouser sewing terror!
Fantastic skinny jeans! That fabric is absolutely wonderful.
Cute. I bought some of the fabric for my granddaughter.
Hot hot hot!!! Love those jeans.
You are rockin' our fabric and those jeans! Well done.
Love these jeans!!!! How is the vogue pattern for sewing instructions. I haven't made a fly front yet, and have been hankering to make pants lately. Are they good for a beginner?
Love these jeans, and I think you picked the perfect pieces to pair them with!
That's some gorgeous jeans!
Those jeans look fabulous. The fabric is a great choice.
absolutely stunning. these are great pants and I so much love your fabric
Such a great question! In honesty, I didn't really look at them other than the first time, which was over a year ago. I have my own jeans sewing routine, so I pretty much ignore what the pattern says anyway. I HIGHLY recommend the Jalie jeans pattern for jeans newbies. The directions are easy to understand, well illustrated and solid. Every time I do a fly zip, I pull out my Jalie pattern to use those directions. They are fabulous, and result in a totally RTW look. You can actually download just the pattern instructions from the Jalie website, so if you are doing a fly from another pattern, that's what I would do.
those are super cool, and i really like how you styled them--and stood in the snow for them!!!
Girl!!!! Those are fantastic! You live on the edge, walking around in the snow in those shoes! That whole outfit is Wowsers!
Those are an amazing pair of pants!!
Wow, I don't know if I agree with you. The fabric rocks, but the fit... damn! You look great!
Great jeans - nice they are so different from what you see in shops- makes a great snow outfit :)
Yeah, you're fabulous!
Cute jeans from great fabric. How nice of Mitch to give you some selfish sewing time. And I see that your yard looks like mine. Oh, well, that's winter.
