Kitschy Coo mittens

We went to the park the other day, and I was worried about Myra's wee hands, but I wasn't up for a trip to the local Walmart or Target with my wild bunch, so I decided to try out this tutorial by Kitschy Coo for making your own mittens, complete with an actual opposable thumb.  How cool is that?
Here they are!  Pardon the black thread.  I was too lazy to change it...  Isn't that cool!  Mitch thought it was pretty awesome that I made mittens.  They were super easy, and the tutorial was great.
Hmm, what is this about??
Check these out!  Myra really likes them!  I think she thinks that they are hand puppets.  She wanders around with them on her hands going, "La La La!"  Pretty cute.  I was jazzed that she liked her mittens!  Of course, 4 seconds after we got to the park, they hit the ground.  Sigh.  At least she has some cute pink hand puppets.

That is so cute! My little girl lost one of her mittens this week and I have been wondering if it would still be usefull to get some new ones, because I keep hoping iwnter is finally over. But maybe I could make some myself, what a great idea!

those are very cute. Unfortunately, I came to the conclusion long ago that mittens are just devices for children to torture their mothers. I've sort of given up.

I might have to try this anyway, because those are so CUTE. Helps that the model is pretty charming.

Those are great. To see the look on her face would make it worth making anything for her.

That's what I aspire to: "Let's not go to Walmart kids, let me run upstairs and whip something up on the sewing machine. You ROCK!

I think that you have hit on something that every mommie needs and that's to be able to have mittens "on demand". I wonder if you can sew them as fast as the kids lose them. What a great idea! I am going to download the pattern and make a bunch of them for my grandsons, who always seem to have only 1 mitten at any time.

Very cute mittens! At least she wore them to the park. Once she's there, she will can run around and warm herself up so she doesn't need them anyway? Maybe not. I made a pair of those mittens out of sheepskin back in high school, with the opposable thumbs and all. Nice to know the pattern is still going availble.
