I think I should start collecting some back issues so I have a decent stash by the time I have little ones to sew for. These are so adorably sporty, and I love the pocket designs!Kristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08713534493686323800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-296724601340557264.post-48354789730621435912012-05-04T10:02:40.339-04:002012-05-04T10:02:40.339-04:00I love Ottobre's details on thier patterns. I think I'll keep that in mind when I sew their summer shorts soon. Overall, very lovely, Duncan looks happy!Vanessahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02426270867775857048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-296724601340557264.post-43063597585115588372012-05-03T11:40:59.215-04:002012-05-03T11:40:59.215-04:00Excellent question! Wish I had thought about it before I plowed forward...

The directions have you topstitch each seam as you sew it, which is what I did, but you end up having to carefully match each of the four sections at three points each (seamline and two lines of topstitching). In retrospect (and assuming you are sewing on a machine with a free arm, which I was), I think I would do the topstitching after assembling the shorts, but before doing the elastic in the waistband. It would have been much easier to get the match points to line up. If I was topstitching on my flatbed machine without the free arm, I probably would have sewed the crotch seam, then topstitched the front and backs separately, then sewn the side seams. It would have at least halved the number of places I had to match, while still being able to sew them flat.KID, MDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16317731987862366557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-296724601340557264.post-76178510085722914182012-05-03T09:57:05.363-04:002012-05-03T09:57:05.363-04:00They are great--cute boy fabric.

Before or after the side seam is sewn?Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14380532857252595734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-296724601340557264.post-63839708519775981162012-05-03T08:18:55.704-04:002012-05-03T08:18:55.704-04:00Adorable shorts on an adorable Duncan!
